Detailed Travel Itinerary :
Day 1 : Take a Volvo from Delhi to Haridwar and prefer an overnight journey from Delhi so that when you land in Haridwar you are all energetic and excited to explore, Now you will reach Sari village VIA (Haridwar-Rishikhesh-Srinagar-Devprayag-Rudraprayag-Ukhimath-Sari) Route so there are many places you can visit like Rishikhesh being well know for it’s temples, You can see the Confluence of Bhagirathi & Alaknanda to form the holy river Ganga at Devprayag and let’s not forget Sari in itself is a very beautiful village and a trek base for Devariyatal lake trek.
Day 2 : After your overnight stay at sari its time for you to start the Devariyatal lake trek, Start the trek early in the morning so that your camera roll can capture some really worth pictures of your trip. Trek to Devariyatal Lake is an easy task, Its 3kms from Sari, a slight uphill trek and you have reached Devariyatal lake. Devariyatal aka Deoriya tal is an emerald lake situated at an elevation of 2430 mts above sea level, The majestic views of Devariyatal lake will bless you with the reflection of chaukhambha peaks on its crystal clear water. The lake is situated amidst lush green deodar and oak trees and is very popular among tourists because of its ease of access and soothing scenic beauty.
Day 3 : Its time to move from Devariyatal lake to Chopta now..!! What..?? Don’t wanna go..?? I can understand but trust me, ahead lies a more interesting journey, So you take a taxi (shared taxi) well it’s a sumo that you are going to board really…!! But this is the fun right..?? You left your mundane life for a reason. After you reach Chopta relax your feet and explore Chopta. Chopta is a small very beautiful village and serves as a base camp for your Tunghnath & Chandrashila trek, situated at an elevation of 2700 mts, Chopta gives you a panoramic view of Snow capped Himalayan Peaks: -Nanda Devi – 7,817 mts –Trishul -7,120mts –Kedarnath – 6,831mts -Bandarpunch – 6,316mts Chaukhamba – 7,138mts. Now, after your expedition of Chopta is complete Reserve a room or a tent (i would suggest a tent), Its OK if you don’t know how to setup a tent, the tent will be setup by the tent owner, Now (trust me) this will be the most happening & beautiful night of you life, you are going to witness infinite stars & the Entire milky way, and Don’t forget the BONFIRE & Night in the TENT will rejuvenate your inner self.
Day 4 : After your rejuvenating experience at Chopta , Get ready for more…. Yes..!! Today you are going to make a difference to yourself, The most important & interesting part of the journey will be your Tunghnath & Chandrashila trek. Now before you start your trek, Let me tell you this trek is a moderate trek but can be done easily with some instructions being followed :
- Start early in the morning
- While you trek, Try Breathing through your Nose
- Carry a Trekking Pole (or a thick wooden stick will do) & a Water Bottle
- Lean forward while trekking
- And last but not the least walk Slow & Steady, and avoid frequent stops
Now once you have reached Tunghnath, the view is breathtaking and you can pay homage to Lord Shiva and adore the beauty of Himalayan peaks, Tunghnath is settled at an elevation of 3680 mts above sea level & is believed to be more than 1000 years old and holds a legend that corroborates some of the incidents depicted in the Mahabharata epic.
By now i can tell you that you will be tired of the trek & would give a second thought to Chandrashila trek. Do Not…I Repeat…Do Not..!! be sceptic about the Chandrashila trek. Chandrashila peak nestled at an altitude of 4100 mts is a beauty and gives you a 360° panoramic view of the snow cladded Himalayan peaks & is utterly noiseless. So you put yourself together & start trekking to Chandrashila peak, Its a 1.5 kms steep uphill trek and can be easily done if you follow the instructions above & keep your will strong, The moment you reach Chandrashila the first thing you will see is a temple & behind the temple lies the magnificent Chandrashila peak (I cannot explain the joy you will feel once you reach Chandrashila) Feast your eyes on one of the most beautiful & scenic vision.
You see that, That is why i kept you pushing for the Chandrashila peak, the views are Inexplicable. Don’t rush, spend sometime at Chandrashila peak and connect with your inner-self and let go of all thoughts, ask yourself the answer to all the questions that you have in your mind, you will surely get something worth considering. Descent to Tunghnath then Chopta, Stay at Chopta that night and feel the nature again.
DAY 5 : Its time to travel back to haridwar, But i am sure when you go back to your regular life you be not be the same person you were, something will be changed, something good. when you leave Chopta you are taking a part of it with you and (trust me) you will always cherish this memory.
